The Village provides the brush chipping service as a courtesy to Village residents. Please follow the guidelines below to take advantage of this service.


  1. Brush chipping generally takes place the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month

  2. Brush must be piled in an orderly fashion. All cut ends should face the street or alley. Branches to be chipped should not exceed 5” in diameter. Brush piles should not exceed 4 feet high by 5 feet wide.

  3. Brush piles will be chipped free of charge for the first ½ hour. Chipping that takes more than ½ hour will be done at a cost to the property owner of $50 per ½ hour.

  4. Please note that the compost pile is NOT a designated drop off area for branches.

  5. IMPORTANT: IF YOU HIRE A CONTRACTOR TO TRIM BRANCHES OR REMOVE TREES ON YOUR PROPERTY, IT IS THE CONTRACTOR’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ALSO DISPOSE OF ALL DEBRIS – THESE BRANCHES WILL NOT BE CHIPPED BY VILLAGE EMPLOYEES.

  6. Failure to comply with the guidelines will result in a letter from the Village Board and may also result in a citation issued by the Lena Police Department.
